Trim Business Writing Redundancy

Redundancy is very common in business writing. Trim bloat by omitting modifying words that merely echo the primary word. There is no need to repeat yourself:

  • Replace: free gift with gift (if it’s not free, it’s not a gift)
  • Replace: basic fundamentals with fundamentals
  • Replace: absolutely necessary with necessary
  • Replace: forward planning with planning
  • Replace: after the conclusion with conclusion
  • Replace: completely naked with naked
  • Replace: total stranger with stranger
  • Replace: after the conclusion with after

What redundant phrases do you see in business writing that can be trimmed?

We migrated and combined our business writing blog and our newsletter articles to this more streamlined blog format, to create a single point of information for our clients and readers. Search functionality is greatly improved, to also help you find resources.

Unfortunately, we could not copy over all comments and social media share indicators in migrated articles. We did copy/paste those comments that directly added clarity to articles.

We hope you enjoy this centralized location for all our public business writing tips and advice!
