Digital Divide in the Workplace
Don Tapscott, the author of Grown Up Digital, explains how millennial workers (whom he calls the “net generation”) and baby boom workers find discord in the workplace as they intersect, primarily due to their differing relationships with technology. This communication impact will be felt more and more. It has become an important consideration as workforce communication patterns shift forcefully due to networked communication technologies and new workers, who have grown up immersed in these technologies, enter the workforce in large numbers.
However, I don’t view this issue as purely generational: I have many young clients who can’t setup an RSS feed and older clients who are very tech savvy.
