Company Info - Instructional Staff

Mary Cullen - President and Founder
Prior to founding Instructional Solutions in 1998, Mary taught writing at Endicott College, Boston College and the University of Massachusetts college system.  She specializes in business writing, composition and hypertext writing. Her work has focused on developing alternative methods of study beyond the traditional classroom-based model, focusing on computer-based writing and non-linear writing.

She pioneered the first online writing courses, and has developed hundreds of customized writing courses for corporate clients using hypertext, multi-media, MOO'S, and many proprietary learning management systems. She is a frequent speaker on business writing protocol and eLearning.

Mary holds a  C.A.G.S  in Composition and Rhetoric from the University of New Hampshire, a M.A in English Literature from Boston College, and a B.A. from the University of Rhode Island in English and European Cultural History, with a minor in Management.

Matthew Olson - Senior eLearning Consultant
Matthew's work focuses on effective online instructional design practices and online collaboration. He has fifteen years of experience in higher education and online learning. Matthew has actively participated in a variety of consortia for distance education including the Massachusetts Consortium of Distance Education (MassCODE), the Massachusetts Distance Learning Consortium (MDLC), and most recently, Mass Colleges Online (MCO).

He has vast experience in technological professional development, and has presented on online teaching and learning in a variety of local, national, and international venues. Matthew has also been a key participant in a three year Department of State grant implementing an online learning program at the Azov Academy of Management and Information Technologies in Berdyansk, Ukraine.

Matthew holds a Ed.D and a M.A. in Education from The University of Massachusetts.

Course Instructors:

Susan Anders:
Susan specializes in business writing, particularly international business writing. She taught at Rutgers University and holds a M.A in English Education from Leslie College and a B.A in English from Middlebury College. She has lived in Europe and Asia for much of her life, lending great insights to our international clients.

John Bromfield:
John specializes in technical writing and business writing. He taught at Holy Cross College and holds a M.A in Composition and Rhetoric from the University of New Hampshire and a B.A in Creative Writing from the University of Massachusetts.

Marcia Ellery:
Marcia specializes in business writing and grammar. She worked for eight years as a writing specialist and as an Assistant Director of Academic Support at Middlesex Community College in Massachusetts. She has also worked as a writing eTutor through the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium. She holds a B.A. in English from Tufts University, and has advanced studies in Orton Gillingham certification.

Dolores Stanhope:
Dolores specializes in business writing, and also teaches proofreading and grammar. She taught writing at Michigan State University and holds a Ph.D from Michigan State in Communications. Her B.A. is also from Michigan State.

Barbara Walker:
Barbara specializes in business writing and concept mapping. She taught business writing and communications at Bentley College, and holds a M.A. from Boston College in English Literature and a B.A. from Wellesley College in English.

Carrie McMahon:

Carrie specializes in contract writing and business writing. She taught writing at Allegheny University and North Carolina State and holds a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Purdue University and a B.A. in English from Syracuse University.

Jared Goldberg
Jared has completed a three-year coaching certificate program with Coach University. He is a member of the International Coach Federation, Philadelphia Area chapter of the International Association of Career Management Professionals, and the National Speakers Association. He holds a M.F.A in Creative Writing from University of California at Davis and holds a B.A in Psychology from San Diego State University.
